Backstage Tour of Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Red Rocks Amphitheater is one of the most famous concert venues in the world, and fortunately for us, it’s located right here in Colorado!

For the opening weekend of their 2021 and 80th anniversary season, we had an opportunity to tour the brand new stage, the famous backstage tunnels, and greenrooms before Lotus took the stage to perform.

Red Rocks first opened in 1908 with a Feast of Lanterns celebration using only the natural rock formations to amplify sounds. This all-natural performance venue remained unchanged until 1941 when the first stage was built and dedicated.

For decades, that stage was improved with back stage additions, a roof, surround sound, and much more. Bands played on that stage until last year when the stage was completely torn down and rebuilt in 2020.

We were not only able to stand on this brand new stage, but we also toured areas that most fans don’t get to see and went backstage where thousands of performers have walked and autographed before hitting the stage.

​The backstage tunnel has been signed by almost every performer that has walked onto the Red Rocks stage over the last few decades. Some of the world’s most famous artists have graced these hallways, and it was an honor to stand where they have stood.

After our backstage tour, we enjoyed the acoustics of the this one-of-a-kind amphitheater filled with the groovy music of Lotus. Lotus was the last band to play on the old Red Rocks stage and the first to play on the new stage. To say the least, it was a great way to start this epic anniversary season!
