Where to Stay in Telluride, Colorado

Telluride, Colorado, is a picturesque town located in the valley of the San Juan Mountains, but it is an expensive place to visit. It’s probably one of the most “boujee” places in Colorado. Hotels can range from $300-500 during an off weekend with Airbnb’s few and far between.

However, I found a very nice, relatively cheap place to stay just outside of town. See more in my video below!

I had never stayed in a hostel before December 2022, but after this great stay, I plan to come back to this one and try more in the future.

Staying in a room with strangers in a dorm-styled room has never really appealed to me and, quite frankly, scared me. That is, until I went to Telluride and hotel rooms were over $400 for just one night and my only other option was to sleep in the car. Staying in a dorm-styled room seemed safer and much warmer than the backseat of my Jeep.

That’s when I found The Bivvi Hostel. With beds starting at $55 and private rooms at $150, it was a deal I couldn’t pass up!

As I mentioned, staying in a hostel always kind of scared me. I was worried about who might be in a room with me, having things stolen, and overall cleanliness, but Hostel Bivvi completely blew me away.

I chose to stay in their cheapest option, which was a 6-person room with bunk beds. Each bed came with its own locker, ear plugs, towels, and was just as nice as any hotel I have visited.

I ended up only having one roommate who was super nice and polite during my single night stay, and very quiet when she left early the next morning while I was sleeping. She had actually stayed in the same room the weekend before too. She said she absolutely cannot get enough of the place when she comes to ski Telluride!

Then, all the people I met in the lobby at breakfast were super nice too. The staff was also helpful by answering my questions and giving me a tour for my videos.

Compared to the other places in Telluride, The Hostel Bivvi was by far the best option. I would recommend it for anyone traveling to Telluride especially if you are solo. The people here will make you feel welcomed and safe.  

I will say that the short 15-minute drive out of town wasn’t the most convenient especially if it’s snowing late at night. The other pros completely outweigh this one con.
