When we went to Baton Rouge in February, crawfish were out of season, but we had to have them anyway. We met up with a friend of mine who was, at the time, a student at Louisiana State University, and she took us to Sammy’s Grill for the best crawfish in town. Among the three girls and John, we split almost 20 pounds of crawfish, an order of cheese fries, and two orders of the fried bread pudding bites. To say we were in a food coma at the end of that would have been a true understatement! We can’t have crawfish without a beer, so John and I ordered a couple of local brews to cool the burn of the spicy mudbugs. Crawfish are typically more expensive when they are out of season, but paying a little extra at Sammy's was well worth it.
